Antonín Dvořák: 7. simfonija u d-molu, op. 70 / Symphony No. 7 in D minor, Op. 70
The first concert is to be held in the memory of maestro Pavle Dešpalj, the honorary chief conductor of the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra who died in 2021. The concert will be conducted by Dešpalj’s last student, the renowned cello player and conductor Pavle Zajcev. Matko Smolčić, the first bassoon of the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, will be presented in Mozart’s Bassoon Concerto, KV 191, while the concert repertoire is also going to include Romantic Variations by Pavle Dešpalj on the theme of the violin virtuoso Franjo Krežma (composed in 2017 at the request of Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra), as well as Symphony No. 7 by the Czech composer Antonín Dvořák.
