Zagreb Classic Festival

Zagreb Classic Festival

Since 2016 Zagreb has boasted its very own open-air classical music festival. The first hints of summer in the city signal the beginning of the open-air concert season, as you probably know (by now). In June and July, the designated seats in concert halls give way to a very much undesignated and casual green field and blankets at the lovely King Tomislav Square in Zagreb.

The City of Zagreb and its cultural music institutions have teamed up for the mission of enhancing Zagreb's cultural offering. Ever since the festival was established, the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra has supported the idea of ”enjoying music in the grass” and has taken pride in participating in such an event.

As part of the Zagreb Classic festival, the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra has held a series of wonderful concerts: a music spectacle with Goran Bregović in the realisation of his project Three Letters from Sarajevo, a musical explosion accompanied by the virtuoso King of the Violin Roby Lakatoš, concerts with the violinist Julian Rachlin and Jose Cura, a tenor with a voice that carries around the world, who was joined on stage by our opera diva, the soprano Evelin Novak; as well as performances of the popular Filmharmonics and concerts held for the Statehood Day celebration etc. The Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra looks forward to new editions of the Zagreb Classic and to the return of citizens, tourists and passers-by to the streets of Zagreb during the warm summer evenings.
