Quartet Rucner ZF Guest-Performed In Tel Aviv

Kvartet Rucner Zagrebačke filharmonije na koncertu u prestižnoj dvorani Kulturnog centra Einav u Tel AvivuOn Wednesday, 18 November Quartet Rucner of the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra held a concert in Tel Aviv at the prestigeous hall of the Einav Cultural Centre under the auspices of the Croatian embassy in Israel. The one hundrieth anniversary of Tel Aviv was celebrated in a number of events and performances by most prominent world ensembles, from Peking opera to La Scala of Milan, The String Quartet Rucner of the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra contributed to this celebration with an unusual and well received gesture: Variations by Josip Magdić, on a theme by Mendelssohn from oratorio Elias had its premiere performance (on the occasion of 200th anniversary of composer's birth).

At the concert present were the mayor of Tel Aviv, Croatian ambassador to Israel Marica Matković, diplomatic corps members and other eminent guests along with a full house, all attentively listening to the Quartet performance. The programme consisted of pieces entirely by Croatian composers – from Stratik, a musicological rarety, over folklore miniatures by Emil Cosseto and Miroslav Miletić, to the Croatian music classic Stjepan Šulek (Quartet no. 3).

The members of the Rucner Quartet of the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra acted as a harmoniously tuned musical ensemble, which gives great attention to its mission – promotion of the „Croatian music. The audiences knew how to appreciate it, asking for an encore which came in the shape of a Tango „Simple“ by Astor Piazolla.

Long Applause for Zagreb Philharmonic at Sold Out Musikverein in Vienna

Sunday, November 8th, 2009, the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra had a very successful performance at one of the world’s most prestigious concert halls – Musikverein’s Golden Hall in Vienna, as a part of the 5th festival of the Croatian music in Vienna.

Ivan Repusic conducted the orchestra and Martina Filjak was the soloist on the piano. The concert programme was the same as on November 6th at the V. Lisinski Concert Hall.

The programme included:
B. Papandopulo: HOMMAGE Á BACH
S. Rachmaninoff: PIANO CONCERTO No. 2 in C minor, op. 18
H. Berlioz: SYMPHONIE FANTASTIQUE, op. 14

At the end of the first part, concluded by the numerous audience’s ovations, Martina Filjak played an encore – ETUDE op. 4 No. 4 by Karol Szymanowski. At the end of the concert, after a long applause, the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra played an encore as well – Dvořák’s SLAVONIC DANCE op. 46 No. 8 in G minor.

The Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra appeared for the first time at the Golden Hall of The Musikverein in December 2002 under the baton of maestro Vjekoslav Sutej.
